On June 6, 2021, our Founder and CEO, Sherrye Willis, celebrated her 60th birthday! In honor of this day, she launched a Facebook fundraiser for the month of June where all proceeds go to the Alliance for Greater Works’ Women’s Executive Leadership Program for Systemic Change. Sherrye has dedicated her life work to this cause.
The Women’s Executive Leadership Program for Systemic Change, a program by Alliance for Greater Works, is designed to break barriers facing women in the philanthropic sector—and there are many barriers to break. For instance, did you know that women make up more than 75% of the nonprofit industry, yet they hold less than 20% of top leadership positions? The Women’s Executive Leadership program aims to change this. It is the only program of its kind, positioning multicultural women to excel in leadership roles.
Sherrye founded Alliance 20 years ago. As a woman founder and CEO, it has always been her goal to help lift multicultural women to leadership roles and challenge the status quo.
Sherrye attributes her success as a leader to the many women mentors who inspired her to break the glass ceiling. Therefore, her goal is to prepare, position, and propel more women into executive level positions.
