Alliance Successfully Delivers a Mental Health Common Agenda in Rural Texas
For the past three years, Alliance has worked with five rural counties — Bastrop, Brooks, Nacogdoches, Morris, and Victoria — as part of the Collaborative Approaches to Mental Health and Well-Being in Rural Communities (WRC). The WRC is an initiative of the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health.
In May 2021, Alliance commemorated the end of the three-year grant initiative (January 2018- May 2021) with a virtual celebration finale, which included a special message of gratitude from representatives of each county. The county messages were compiled into a short film titled, WRC – A Look Back 2018-2021 Planning Phase.
Alliance applauds the Hogg Foundation for developing this first-of-its-kind collaborative addressing poor mental health, resilience, and wellbeing in the state of Texas. We also appreciate the Hogg Foundation team for selecting Alliance as the coordinator to implement this groundbreaking initiative.
In 2018, Alliance for Greater Works received a three-year grant totaling $4.5 million serving five Texas counties, each with a population of 250,000 people or less. The WRC initiative grew out of the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health’s desire to address the root causes of poor mental health at the community and systems level.
