Our Board Member Spotlight this month is Jeff Howard, the Community Development Specialist for Parkland Health & Hospital System. With more than 18 years of experience working in community outreach in the West Dallas, South Dallas/Fair Park, and Vickery Meadow neighborhoods, Jeff has helped provide community-based services with key community stakeholders to create healthy and sustainable communities.

Additionally, he has developed and strengthened ongoing relationships with community leaders, social service agencies, schools, churches, and neighborhoods to identify and connect community needs and resources. He has helped coordinate events and programs internally and externally on issues related to community health needs to ensure that Parkland is represented in the community and to ensure the community’s needs are met.

Jeff has served as the coordinator for the West Dallas Community Coalition for the last 12 years and is the Vice President of the West Dallas 1 organization, a coalition of neighbors and neighborhood associations in the 75212 ZIP code.

He sits on the Faith Health Collaborative team at Parkland, which has pastoral and community staff from all the major hospitals in Dallas. Since 2004, Jeff has led an urban Boy Scout Troop at West Dallas Community Church, where he attends church. He and his wife of 30 years, Sharon, live in West Dallas and have one son. He has an undergraduate degree from the University of North Texas and enjoys hiking and golf in his spare time. Jeff has added tremendous value to the Alliance for Great Works Board of Directors.
