Judge Cheryl Williams, Board Secretary, Has Long History of Supporting Women’s and Children’s Issues

In this month’s Board Member Spotlight, we’re excited to highlight Judge Cheryl Williams, who has served on the Alliance board for the past three years and currently serves as secretary. 

Judge Williams received her bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, and earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Missouri School of Law located in Columbia, Missouri. After law school, Judge Williams served as an Enforcement Attorney for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Later in her private practice, she represented individuals in civil and criminal cases.

Her heart for improving Dallas communities is evident through her faithful acts of service. Judge Williams has been involved with women and children’s issues and has been honored by numerous organizations and peers. She is a member of bar associations, non-profit organizations, and civic organizations, including Alliance for Greater Works.

In addition, Judge Williams is a Certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor and has served as chair of the board of directors of the Legal Aid of Northwest Texas. She is a lifetime member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People; member of the Omicron Mu Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.; Chair Program Specialist – Circle Ten Council of Boy Scouts of America; and past chair of the Mustang District of Circle Ten Council of Boy Scouts of America.

Judge Williams is a sought-after speaker for bar associations, conferences, schools, community-based organizations, social and religious groups regarding juveniles in municipal court, community courts, and substance-abuse treatment courts.
