Congratulations Dr. Johnson

Congratulations to Dr. Angela Johnson for successfully passing her dissertation defense. Dr. Johnson joined Alliance for Greater Works in 2012 and has served this organization in various roles including chief administrative officer, senior consultant, and currently, managing director.

Dr. Johnson’s dissertation, “Womanism, Work and Wealth: (Re) Framing the Business Administration Contributions of Marie Therese “Coincoin” Metoyer and Henriette Delille,” uses a womanist theorietical framework to discuss the lives of these two free women of African descent, who lived during a time when women of African descent were generally identified as enslaved laborers. Metoyer’s and Delille’s ability to control their own labor and identities offers an alternative perspective on the experiences of women of color in leadership and capitalism in the Americas.

Angela holds a doctoral degree in multicultural women’s and gender studies; a master’s of arts in women’s studies; and a master’s of business administration from Texas Woman’s University. Additionally, she holds a certificate in nonprofit leadership from Southern Methodist University/Center for Nonprofit Management and a bachelor’s of applied science in interdisciplinary studies from Dallas Baptist University.
