Celebrating 20 Years

Today Alliance for Greater Works, a premier leader in developing leaders, celebrates twenty years of servant leadership! Founded in 2001 as Faith & Philanthropy Institute, our initial goal was to prepare, train and equip faith-based leaders and organizations to realize measurable change in their communities.
Through the years, we observed how duplicating programs and services only addressed symptoms leaving communities unchanged and under-served and faith- and community-based leaders burned out. Additionally, we realized the magnitude of work needed required cross-sector collaboration with multiple partners to solve these complex issues.
Romans 12:2 tells us to be “…transformed by the renewing of our mind” because real transformation always begins with our thinking. So, in 2014, Faith & Philanthropy Institute’s strategy shifted to include investors, funders, corporations, faith- and community-based leaders, which led to rebranding and changing the organization’s name to Alliance for Greater Works™.
The name change reflected the transformation of our thinking, which transformed our strategies, with the ultimate goal of transforming more lives. This new name was chosen to reflect the current priorities of multiplying cross-sector talents to transform communities. In other words, we believe by working together, everyone could achieve “greater works.”
Since 2001, Alliance for Greater Works has served more than 25,000 leaders and led 18 cross-sector collective impact initiatives throughout Texas and beyond.
In the coming weeks, Alliance will reveal its continued commitment to assessing and addressing the needs of the communities we serve and we invite you to join us on this journey of transforming marginalized communities one zip code at a time.
