Alliance for Greater Works™ invites Resilient Church Collective cohort members in Texas to respond to this request for proposals (RFP) to mobilize churches throughout the state of Texas in response to the trauma experienced by youth and adults as they seek to cope with recurring devastating events such as the current crises concerning COVID; Intergenerational trauma, and community violence including police brutality or mass shootings.

The small grants goals are to:

  • Educate ministry leaders and congregation members about trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). 
  • Recognize the signs and symptoms of trauma,
  • Respond by refining policies, practices, and procedures to cultivate resilience to trauma without unintentionally re-traumatizing congregants,
  • Create and provide resources to help adults and youth recover from trauma,

Depending on the quality of proposals received, Alliance plans to award grants up to $2,000 to up to the 20 eligible Resilient Church Collective cohort members.

Information Session:

  • Alliance will host a RCC cohort Information Session from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 pm CST on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. A Zoom invitation will be sent prior to the Information session.
  • Please email questions for the Zoom meeting in advance to cbrown@alliancetx.org by 1:00 p.m. central time on Friday, June 30, 2023.
  • Information provided during the Zoom meeting will be posted as questions and answers on the Resilient Church Collective webpage by Friday, July 14, 2023.

Award Notification: Notice of awards will be made by September 16, 2023.

Program Details:

  • Eligible Organizations
    • Resilient Church Collective cohort members are eligible to submit proposals who have participated in trainings, gatherings, and other program activities.
    • Proposals submitted as a collaborative project between two or more Resilient Church Collective cohort are welcome.

      • Trauma-Informed Event or Project
      • Counseling Center Start-Up Planning
  • Review and Selection Process
    Alliance team will use a rating instrument to evaluate the merits of the proposals. Factors used to evaluate proposals for this RFP include:
    • To increase awareness about trauma in the Black Church setting or communities.
    • Capacity (alone or together with partners) to successfully complete grant-related activities.
    • A realistic budget.
    • Feasibility of timeline.
    • For collaborative projects, clear explanation of the roles and responsibilities of each organization.

Alliance may conduct virtual site visits to learn more about applicant’s project prior to determining grant awards.

  • Grant Term: The grant term is one year and will begin October 1, 2023.
  • Reporting Requirements
    The reporting requirements and due date will be clearly outlined in the grant agreement. The grantees will be required to a final report October 20, 2024.
